Are you a proactive, highly organised and engaging individual with a proven record of successfully supporting very disadvantaged people into sustainable employment, providing in-work support and improving the employment situation of those already in work?
If so, join St Giles Trust as a Better Work Senior Caseworker, where you will provide a high-level service
to Lewisham residents, advising, engaging and supporting them on how to top-up their income and improve their employment situation.
About St Giles Trust
An ambitious, well-established charity that helps people facing adversity to find jobs, homes and the right support they need. Central to our ethos is our belief that people with first-hand experience of successfully overcoming issues such as an offending background, homelessness, addictions and gang involvement, hold the key to positive change in others.
St Giles is now a kickstart employer, so we are part of the scheme which provides job opportunities for 16-24 year-olds who are currently on Universal Credit and are at risk of long-term unemployment.
About this exciting opportunity
This key role will see our successful candidate engage with Lewisham residents who are in low paid work (below London Living Wage), insecure work (0-hour contracts) or in work but still in receipt of benefits to help them to top-up their income and improve their employment status.
This will see you support each of your clients to increase their income by 10%, be moved from insecure work to fixed hours employment and to develop their employability skills. We will also count on you to help residents completing accredited qualifications and to feel more confident in finding and improving their employment situation as a result of engaging with the programme.
What we are looking for
Substantial experience of career coaching and an understanding of career adaptability
The ability to apply a creative approach to planning programmes and activities that support the development of those already in work to improve their circumstances and employment situation
A sound understanding of current labour market trends, employment rights and contract types
The ability to motivate and encourage individuals to make progress, providing constructive feedback
Level 3 Advice and Guidance qualification (or similar) or working towards gaining the qualification
Training qualification such as AET / PTTLs (or equivalent) or working towards gaining the qualification
