JOB DETAIL

At Wessex Water, we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for everyone to work in. To help assist us with this, we have a requirement for a Gatehouse Operative to join the business and provide security assistance for our operations at our Poole site.

The role

As the Gatehouse Operative, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our colleagues who are based on site in Poole.

Your role will involve operating our barrier system when visitors arrive onsite. Your duties will include meeting those visitors and performing the necessary ID checks to ensure no unauthorised visitors or vehicles come on to site. Additionally, you will also be responsible for conducting site inductions and familiarisation to facilitate site security and safety.

Your duties will also include:
traffic management by directing drivers around site
reporting incidents by keeping record of surveillance activities, observations and occurrences on our existing management systems
performing onsite safety and security inductions for site visitors and managing associated sign-in books and record keeping
continuously looking to further develop security and safety policies and procedures
preventing losses and damage by reporting irregularities and informing contractors of policy and procedures
organising and administrating the documentation and permitting system on site
working closely with the site manager and permitting personnel to create a safe and secure working environment on site.

What are the requirements?

First and foremost, you’ll be a confident and effective communicator, as you will be talking to a range of stakeholders, varying in seniority, as well as visitors and contractors coming to site.

Previous experience working in a role where you have worked according to health and safety procedures is essential.

For this role, it is desirable for the individual to work well as part of a team and be able to work in a reactive operational environment. Self-sufficiency and self-motivation are key, as is being organised and willing to learn.

What you’ll get from us?

Our people tell us Wessex Water is a great place to work, and they stay with us! We are proud of how we support development and career progression. We have a wealth of both financial and non-financial benefits to offer our people and are committed to ensuring we provide an environment that supports health and wellbeing and flexible working.

We continue to promote diversity and inclusion. With that in mind, we welcome all applicants.

We are delighted to have signed the Armed Forces covenant and are a Disability Confident Employer. Applicants who declare they have a disability or have previously served with the Armed Forces, and meet the minimum requirements for the job, will automatically be invited for an interview.

Please let us know if you require any additional support or adjustments to assist you in starting your journey with Wessex Water.

The appointment of successful applicant/s will also be subject to receiving suitable references and basic (or where job applicable) other criminal disclosure checks. You must also be able to provide proof of your eligibility to work in the UK.

If you have what it takes to join this award-winning business and want to be part of our exciting journey and share in that success, then please get in contact with us to find out more.
