Overall Purpose:
The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for the daily running of the company supply chain and purchasing activities, fundamentally ensuring the smooth and efficient receipt of goods to enable successful sales and service levels. This role is pivotal for interacting with other departments to resolve issues quickly while pro-actively forward planning from a stock and supply perspective.
Principal Accountabilities:
Raising purchase orders
Chasing purchase orders and communicate relevant information to colleagues
Develop relationships with key suppliers
Sourcing new products and retrieving data from suppliers for customer requests
Resolving any issues with suppliers including product, performance and invoicing issues
Processing the return of goods back to suppliers
Monitor supplier performance, resolving and escalating where necessary
Effective inter-departmental communication to resolve queries
Maintenance of product, supplier, and market knowledge in order to enable analysis and reporting
Inputting and maintaining data on IT systems
Assisting management in cost saving and efficiency initiatives
Assisting with any ad-hoc project work
Taking ownership of product categories and/or suppliers to achieve growth/service targets
Liaising with suppliers and logistic partners to oversee importing of goods
Monitoring stock to ensure appropriate stock is held and good stock control processes are maintained

Person Specification:
3+ years experience of working within a similar role as part of a purchasing team
Confident with commercial communication skills
Strong engagement and relationship management skills with colleagues and suppliers
Excellent negotiation, problem solving and decision making abilities
A team player able to embrace and adapt to change
Keen to take on responsibilities and work on their personal progression
Strong IT skills of Excel and other Microsoft packages. Experience of SAP would be advantageous
Able to be responsible and work with autonomy to set KPI’s and processes
Enjoys a fast-paced working environment
Action orientation and a proactive approach to the completion of tasks and projects
